This position creates and implements the Product Portfolio Management activities, while at the same time driving the achievement of the Quarterly business results on a worldwide basis. The position is principally responsible for understanding the global product position of the assigned product line and proposing and subsequently having a key leadership position in multifunctional teams to execute new product development and commercialization.

This position can be based globally remote.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

Drive business growth through existing product portfolio
Analyze, monitor and report regularly on the financial performance of the product portfolio: sales trends, market pricing trends, price-volume trends
Work with Commercial Managers (CM) to create, monitor and adjust promotional activities for pipeline growth and sales growth in a highly competitive environment.
Demonstrate effective leadership during product positioning and messaging sessions.
Lead the development and – in cooperation with the CMs – execution of training events to all relevant parties
Works closely with key Channel Partners to drive execution of strategy and tactics to achieve business objectives
Calculate and validate financial metrics on large deals
Address specific customer / OEM customer issues and opportunities.

Manage Product Life cycle
Product Portfolio Management may include – but is not limited to – product line rationalization, product changes (ECR), participation in product corrective actions
Anticipate product line maintenance needs and deal with or delegate appropriate response and actions.
Provide forecasting input for Supply Chain / production planning purposes
Ensure quality issues are addressed and resolved
Ensure fluent product communication to the sales teams and support to field sales

New Product Development and Launch
Clearly understand global market and competitive dynamics and region-specific variations
Demonstrate strong customer interaction/sales skills in field travel and trade show attendance
Conduct market, Voice of the Customer and competitive research, perform financial analysis and collect internal input to support product portfolio recommendations. Develop business plans for new products with the relevant supporting market & financial data.
Work with customers and Application Specialists across the organization to understand scientific trends, making sure the product line is supported with application-based sales tools and innovative accessories and consumables
Work closely with R&D, Ops team, and external partners for new product specification and development. Ensure the R&D team is fed with the right input at the right time and follow closely the product development projects. Arbitrate between various options during the projects.
Lead and direct teams cross-functional teams with R&D, MarCom, Sales and Operations to develop and release highly-successful new products or product line extensions.
Develop sales tools including brochures, advertisements, and other materials, working closely with Marketing Communications. In particular, coordinate timing of product launch and generation of marketing materials to maximize impact.
Keep broader team informed of relevant product decisions. Develop consensus whenever possible on product decisions to ensure excellent execution of product plans.

Other Requirements
Travel estimated at 30% of time, with a focus on the R&D centers involved with the product development, independently to customer sites, trade shows, Channel Partners and training events all over the world. Required travel may span weekend days..

Educational Qualifications
BS degree in Biology, Bioscience, Business or Engineering
Advanced degree (e.g. MS, PhD, MBA) a plus

Skills desired
5-10 years experience in industry, academia, or related field with progressively increasing responsibilities
Demonstrated excellence in English oral and written communications skills, including ability to give effective presentations to small or large audiences, live or in conference calls.
Experience in sales or/and marketing (5 years minimum), especially with complex distribution networks
Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks and multi-task efficiently.
Demonstrated ability to operate independently, with initiative, and good business judgment in a virtual team environment with multiple business functions
Strong organizational and time management skills
Experience within Company or other life science competitor a plus
